New Design Principles for Cross-Coupling
The Lavagnino Lab will leverage mechanistic insights towards the design of conceptually novel and synthetically enabling catalytic reactions. Working at the intersection of methods development and mechanistic study, we will discover catalytic chemistry that employs underutilized metal centers, activates elusive coupling partners, and applies unconventional design parameters to catalytic cycle construction. Through this research we will develop organic transformations that meet critical needs in the field, while also challenging the established retrosynthetic logic of how catalytic centers can be utilized to cleave and forge chemical bonds for organic synthesis.
